Accessibility
This site should work for everyone who needs it — including the people using it one-handed at 3am on a station phone.
Our commitment
Frontline Family Coverage aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We treat accessibility as part of building the site rather than something added afterwards, and we review it as the site changes.
What we've built in
- Semantic HTML structure with a single clear heading hierarchy on every page.
- A "Skip to main content" link as the first focusable element on every page.
- Full keyboard operation — navigation, menus, accordions, the partnership popup and all forms.
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element.
- A visible pause control on background video, so motion can be stopped.
- Respect for the operating system's "reduce motion" setting: animations are removed and background video does not autoplay.
- No video ever autoplays with sound.
- Text alternatives for images and video content.
- Labels on every form field, with errors announced to assistive technology rather than shown by colour alone.
- Modal dialogs that trap focus, close on Escape, and return focus to the control that opened them.
- Colour contrast checked against the AA thresholds for body and interface text.
- Layouts that reflow without horizontal scrolling down to a 360px viewport, and that support browser zoom.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is never finished. As we add video, photography and new resources, each addition is checked against the same standard — captions and transcripts for video content, alt text for photography, and keyboard testing for anything interactive.
Third-party content
Some parts of the experience rely on third-party services, such as our scheduling calendar. We choose accessible providers where we can, but we don't control their code. If a third-party tool is blocking you, contact us and we will complete the task with you directly by phone.
Tell us if something doesn't work
If any part of this site gets in your way, we want to hear about it — and we'll help you get what you needed in the meantime. Tell us the page and what happened, and we'll fix it.
