Our story
Built from the frontline.
For the family behind it.
A retired police commander and a licensed advisor, united by one belief: first responder families deserve better than what the system gives them.
Co-Founder & CEO
Joseph Schaefer
Retired Police Commander Miami Gardens P.D. 20+ years served
After two decades protecting the City of Miami Gardens, Commander Schaefer saw the same thing over and over — the officers, firefighters and paramedics he worked alongside were quietly paying far more than they needed to in order to cover their families. Nobody in the insurance world was speaking their language.
So he built the company that would. Joseph co-founded Frontline Family Coverage with one mission: make sure the people who protect everyone else are never financially penalized for protecting their own.
Co-Founder & President
Cris Martin
Licensed insurance advisor since 2017 Independent broker — FL
Cris didn't find his way into insurance by accident. A close family member faced serious long-term health issues, and going through that process up close made one thing impossible to ignore: the right health plan doesn't just affect what you pay — it determines whether your family is protected when life goes sideways.
That experience has never left him. Since earning his license in 2017, Cris has built his career around a simple belief — understanding your health coverage shouldn't require a law degree. It should feel like straightforward advice from someone who genuinely has your back.
In his own words
Why Frontline exists.
Twenty years on the job, and the same conversation in every locker room: good people going without, because covering the family cost more than anyone expected.
How we got here
From the precinct
to your kitchen table.
- Early 2000s Joseph Schaefer begins his career in law enforcement with the Miami Gardens Police Department.
- 2010s Joseph earns the rank of Commander, and starts noticing how many first responders around him are overpaying to cover their families.
- 2017 Cris Martin earns his insurance license after a close family member's long-term health crisis.
- 2022 Joseph retires after 20+ years of service. He and Cris found Frontline Family Coverage.
- Today Frontline works with first responder families across disciplines — and the mission keeps growing.
What we stand for
We operate by
the same code you do.
Integrity. Service. Commitment. Not words on a website — the standard we hold ourselves to.
Integrity first
We won't recommend a plan that doesn't genuinely serve your family. If what you have is already the better option, that's what we'll tell you, and you walk away with no obligation.
Service without an agenda
We're independent brokers — we work for you, not a carrier. That means looking at what's genuinely available for your specific family, in your specific state.
Family is the mission
You protect the community. Our entire job is the household standing behind you. That's the whole of it.
The last word
You've spent your career
taking care of others.
Let us help take care of the family behind you. One conversation, no cost, and no obligation to change anything you already have.
